Lester Bird is a Principal Associate for the Civil Legal System Modernization team for the Pew Charitable Trusts where he focuses on bringing attention to online legal information portals and developing next-generation portal features. His current work with the Legal Navigator project sees him push for innovative solutions to complex problems with a focus on data standardization. Lester previously worked on the Voting Information Project at Pew where he helped voters find their polling place and ballot information. His work helped more drive more than 120 million lookups of polling place information in 2016. Prior to Pew, Lester worked in state and local governments in Florida and Washington, DC. While working in DC government, Lester co-founded Erase the Line, an award­winning program that helped election officials develop data-driven strategies to alleviate lines on Election Day. Lester is a graduate of the University of Florida and a resident of Maryland.
