Karla Chrobak is a supervising attorney at CARPLS (Coordinated Advice and Referral Program for Legal Services), which provides advice, referrals and brief services, through a phone hotline and various court-based help desks, to low and moderate income residents of Chicago and suburban Cook County, Illinois. Karla is a graduate of Indiana University - Bloomington and Northwestern University School of Law. Throughout law school, Karla worked at the Legal Assistance Foundation (LAF) of Chicago’s Public Benefits Hotline and HIV/AIDS Project, providing free civil legal services to impoverished residents of Cook County. Upon graduation, she started working as a staff attorney at LAF's Southside neighborhood office, where she focused on employment and subsidized housing issues. Before joining CARPLS, Karla also worked in the appellate division of the Illinois Attorney Registration and Disciplinary Commission. Karla currently manages the CARPLS’ Municipal Court Advice Desk, where CARPLS staff and volunteers help pro se litigants navigate the Cook County court system.
