Representatives from three California courts will discuss new projects being developed utilizing funds from the Court Innovations Grant Program. The Butte County Superior Court will share information about how their self-help centers are expanding their remotely delivered video-conferenced workshops to 13 counties in California. They will also discuss broadband expansion issues and the creation of self-help computer labs in those remote counties. The San Diego Superior Court will demonstrate their Family Law Online Workshop (FLOW) appointment system, which allows litigants to register online for an in-person workshop or a video chat appointment, download forms and worksheets, and register for a new service “Message Board” where litigants can receive information and alerts specific to their case, with links to other valuable resources. Lastly, the Orange County Superior Court will highligt its “Remote Services for Urban Courts” – a Self-Help Portal that can triage and guide litigants through the lifecycle of a case. Finally, they will talk about the use of texting as an early intervention case management tool for Self-Represented Litigants in Family Law Cases.
