There are many instances where a lack of funding precludes appointing an attorney from represeting a child in need of assistance. Attorneys from the private bar are a much need resource in this area. Five states are leveraging technology to improve outcomes for children and youth in cases involving child abuse, domestic violence, juvenile justice, immigration, and sex trafficking by mobilizing judges, attorneys, and others to build a “Child Protection Connection” to fill gaps in resources, tools, and training, and break down silos across systems. Using a system of integrated online tools – a one-stop “Online Center”– these states are connecting judges, attorneys, and others to resources, the latest research, their colleagues, experts, mentors, pro bono opportunities and assistance, alerts on new developments, and training – 24/7.
